Privacy Policy for Simple Ruler
Effective date: [2026-09-09]
The short version
Simple Ruler is a standalone on-screen ruler. It does not have a backend, does not know who you are, and does not want to know. The only thing it saves is your DPI calibration, and that value never leaves your device.
Information Simple Ruler stores locally
The app writes a single number to Android's private
SharedPreferences storage: your pixels-per-millimetre
calibration. It is used the next time you launch the app so your
ruler still lines up with a physical reference. This value is
stored on your device only and is removed when you uninstall the
app.
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or account.
- We do not read the contents of your storage, gallery, or clipboard.
- We do not use your camera or microphone.
- We do not read the length values you measure with the ruler.
- We do not receive analytics, telemetry, or crash reports.
Android permissions
Simple Ruler declares zero Android permissions in its manifest. If you check the app's App info screen in Android settings, the permissions list is empty.
Network use
The app does not request the android.permission.INTERNET
permission, does not open sockets, and cannot send data off your
device even if it wanted to.
Third parties
Simple Ruler has no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash reporting SDK, and no in-app purchase library. Nothing runs alongside the app that reports back to a third party.
Children
Because Simple Ruler stores only an anonymous calibration number and never transmits it, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, and complies with COPPA-style regimes by construction.
Updates to this policy
Any future change that materially affects what the app does with your data will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
